MICKEY FLATT

 

Mickey Flatt started playing banjo at age 13.  His early banjo influence's were Earl Scrugg's, Carl Jackson, Sonny Osborne, and Little Roy Lewis.  The first banjo album he bought was a Carl Jackson album called Carl Jackson/Banjo Player.  This album was released when Carl played for Glen Campbell.  He took lesson's for about 9 month's, then his teacher moved away and Mickey took over giving the lesson's.  He started going to festival's and show's and watching other player's and learning from them.  He's had the honor of sharing the stage with such bluegrass great's as: Josh Grave's, Joe Stuart, Chubby Wise, Kenny Baker, Mac Wiseman, and The Lewis Family.   Mickey is a proud endorser of Osborne Chief Banjo's, Recording King Banjo's, and Eastman Mandolin's.  When not performing with Brigade, Mickey enjoy's collecting musical instrument's, playing guitar in his church's praise band, watching college basketball, and spending time with family and friend's.
